Dreams vs. Stats

Rebecca Green Real Estate Coach

“The business world often gets caught up in facts and figures; and while the details and data are important, the ability to dream, conceptualize and innovate is what sets the successful and the unsuccessful apart.” - Richard Branson

Think about that for a second.

Gross commission earned, sales volume, ROI, rankings, expenses, and net revenue…. are all common denominators in our real estate businesses. I definitely teach the importance of understanding all of this, but I also teach the importance of having dreams + aspirations. Are the numbers going to get you where you want to go, or are the dreams, aspirations, and innovations?

Yes and no? Hear me out because if you’ve been around for a hot second, you know I'm big on saying you gotta do the work.

In real estate, we can throw more hours into our work, do more open houses, work more weekends, and add more people to our team. We can do the work, and it will likely increase our numbers because real estate is like that, but is that what you REALLY want out of your business?

Could you work with more intention and create a plan that leads you to the dream? Could you do that and still hit or exceed your numbers? YES!

Just doing the work won't create better experiences for your clients or create a life you love. Working without intention is just participating in the grind.

The dream alone won’t take you where you want to go, just like the stats won’t.

So many people I mentor initially don’t know their dream or may even be embarrassed to admit it because it seems so far-fetched- Be authentic about your vision and focus on your inner voice. Maybe you have an idea for a better tool for the real estate industry. Maybe you have a desire to create a better backend system for your team, or perhaps you have dreams of developing co-living spaces, owning a vacation home, or building affordable housing and teaching others how to do the same….whatever it may be, know that life is short and you deserve the time to explore even the wildest of dreams.

So many real estate agents get caught in the grind. I get it. I’ve been there, done it, and written the sermon on it twenty times over!

Richard Branson, Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos….the list of successful business owners is endless. They all had huge dreams and created unbelievable innovation or growth within different spaces. I believe the need for exploration rings true in any industry, whether it be fried chicken or technology, real estate, or the arts.

Give yourself permission to think about the why and the end goal. What would innovation do for you- produce better workflow, stronger systems, more refined service, and ultimately greater production?

Carve out time in your week to brainstorm, get creative, and be bold. Make sure your dreams and aspirations are clear in your mind, revisit them regularly, and be energized by the possibilities.

Excited to see where your dreams take you. Keep me posted!
