Spoiler Alert: Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
Interested in making a healthy 6 or 7-figure income in real estate? Yep, most real estate agents are. Is it achievable? Definitely. Is it easy? Definitely not! Can you do it all by simply being internet famous? Definitely not! Will it happen overnight? Nope!
But by making INTENTIONAL decisions in your business, working hard, and understanding that you have to work on your business, not just in your business, real estate can be everything you want it to be.
If you’ve been with me for a hot second, you’ve likely heard me say that real estate is a fascinating business model because of all the different hats an agent has to wear. By default, you are the CEO, CFO, CMO, chief floor sweeper, assistant, social media manager, salesperson, and often the counselor to other brokers and clients. Be intentional with which of these jobs you can and will do. Do those exceptionally well. Decided which of these you can outsource or which a team member or brokerage could assist with. BE INTENTIONAL.
Understand your assignment and the role that you give yourself.
Ultimately, as a real estate agent, you are helping people with the largest investment they’ll ever make, whether it’s their first home, sixth home, or 26th home. The dollar amount of that purchase or sale is typically greater than any other purchase or sale that they will make. Be INTENTIONAL with your business plan and know how many clients you can service. BE INTENTIONAL with your systems for managing every transaction.
On average, there are 27 people involved in every real estate transaction, so buckle up and be prepared to understand what role each of those 27 people plays, what communication you need to have with those people, and how to handle the objections that they may have or how to address their concerns. And most importantly, know that the 27 people in one deal will have entirely different needs than the next 27 people in the next deal! Be thoughtful and INTENTIONAL with your communication.
How are you marketing yourself and seeking out the ideal client? Have you identified who your ideal client is? What about client retention and staying top of mind? How are you doing this? BE INTENTIONAL in your messaging.
I get it! It’s hard to know where to focus our attention. There is a lot of noise in our industry. Use this tool, do this social media marketing, buy these templates, cold call, don’t cold call. Do open houses, don’t do open houses. There is so much chatter, and many of the folks who have never sold real estate are talking about how to succeed in real estate. I’ve never quite understood that!
The truth is that there are a million ways to succeed in this business, and what works for one person may not work for you. BE INTENTIONAL with how you are going to grow your business. Take stock regularly. Be INTENTIONAL with who you follow and who you model your business after, and don’t believe everything you read on the internet!
